Cloudy with sunny intervals, mild but quite windy; hence the jackets. The ground was damp
after all the rain in recent days but not particularly muddy. Most of the beer fields (barley)
we crossed were quite dry and partially harvested but there were no signs of a combine anywhere.
Seven of us started out on the walk. One felt unwell and after reaching the B4009 walked up it back to the pub and home. A deviant also took a short cut after crossing the railway back to the pub side but we were compensated by one more who took a short walk in reverse to meet us. Four others (and much later, two cyclists) met us in the Swan for lunch. Nothing needs saying about the pub as we have visited many times now. Sadly, of the two Tring ales, the Side Pocket ran out after three pints leaving just the Moon Gazing. The "pie of the day" was excellent, however.
