2019 July 18 Whelpley Hill - White Hart

Drizzly first thing but had stopped by 1000. Mild and mainly cloudy made good walking weather. The route took us along the smaller of the two runways at Bovingdon Airfield. Where the two crossed there was a barrier and a large 'shed' (for want of a better word) that, according to notices on the high security fence, was a new studio/sound stage for ITV. We then passed close to the 'new' prison that has been built on the site of the hangers and control tower. The path around the northern section then took us passed the old taxi ways which have been converted to a small racing track for training purposes. Mostly flat and a good walk overall.

Five were on the walk and three more and a cyclist joined us for an excellent lunch in the White Hart. They do a two course dinner for just £11.95. Ales were Tring "Brock" and a seasonal called "Fanny Ebbs". The Fanny was quite popular although I stuck to the Brock. No incidents today.
