Quite cold for the time of year but mostly bright. A stiff climb at the start of the
course soon warmed us up. After crossing the M40 and walking along side it (very noisy)
for a while, we should have turned right by a pond, but it was fenced off. This meant
we had to continue alongside the motorway until we could turn right. This took us a long
way off course. We never found the path and meandered eastwards until we got to the centre
of operations and took the truck road to the A40. We aborted the walk north of the A40 as
we had lost so much time. On the map, the orange arrows show (roughly) where we actually
Five of us did this walk and another four joined us in the pub. Several others who would normally join us were also there but in the pub itself rather than with us in the gazebo. I tried two ales; a bitter and a porter, but I have failed to remember their names (except the bitter came from Durham). We have praised this pub many times so I shan't repeat.
