Seven of us walked from the Potters Arms at Winchmore Hill. A new pub for us as it has only
recently re-opened. A nice bright, warm, dry day. A very good walk generally - lots of ground
that we have walked previously but it was very varied with farmers fields (lots of broad beans
and some rape - but now just pods without flowers - and dry!) and a lot of woods which was very
acceptable given that it got quite warm at times. Mostly flat so no real problem for me - and
we all cut off a little bit - mainly to avoid road walking. About 4.5 miles and we were back slightly early.
The pub was slightly up-market compared to our usual - we had a table set in the dining room
with cotton napkins and wine glasses etc. Food was at the top end of our normal price range.
A few of us had the bubble and egg starters (£6.95 I think) which was very tasty but a bit small
(of course). Beer was good. Four more joined us in the pub. Pretty good really - but we were the
only ones eating as far as I could see - so we wish them luck.
