2015 May 14 Great Hampden -
Hampden Arms

What a difference! Yesterday was full summer, today; early spring. Cool wind and a constant rainfall. All tolerable except for walking through fields of rape which hammered the water through waterproofs so you got quite wet. Deviants had plenty of opportunity to take short cuts - which they did. Puritans stuck to the path of righteousness and completed 5.5 miles in 2h 10m.

Eight started the walk and were joined by two more at the pub. A good walk involving lots of rape and water. We will probably attempt it again when the weather is less inclement. We haven't visited this pub since December 2010 so it was like a first time. Good food, excellent beer (Chiltern Beechwood) and well cared for. Probably top marks on Pete's scale.
